Aluminum Magnesium Scandium Powder
Appearance: Silvery-gray metallic solid in rod or ingot forms
Manufacturer: Hunan Oriental Scandium Co., Ltd.
Features great damage tolerance, good corrosion resistance, and creep-formability in addition to good weldability. HNOSC AlMgSc alloy enables the production of airplane fuselage parts with less complexity. The single or double curvature of the fuselage portion needed for the airplane body is produced by using creep forming at a high temperature.
About Aluminum Magnesium Scandium
The 5000 Series alloy family (AlMg) provides the optimum balance of strength and characteristics responsiveness when alloyed with scandium. This aluminum-magnesium alloy is known as a soft alloy with regard to its low strength, which is frequently below practical limits in demanding applications.
Aluminum-magnesium-scandium alloy can be made into powder by inert gas atomization process. AlMgSc alloy powder is one of the popular high strength aluminum alloy powder developed and produced specially for Additive Manufacturing industry. AlMgSc alloy powder is corrosion-resistant and combines titanium-like strength with aluminum's low weight and low specific strength. The AlSi10Mg, a widely used aluminum silicon powder for additive manufacturing is only half as strong as AlMgSc powder in comparison.
HNOSC alloy products are offered in both standard and customer-specified element compositions in a variety of forms, including powder, bars, ingots, and wires. Our engineers can provide guidance in selecting an alloy based on your intended application. Please request a quote above to receive pricing details based on your requirements.
Typical Applications
Aluminum-magnesium-scandium alloy could be used to produce other aluminum alloy. Bar form could be used to produce wires and powder for additive manufacturing.
